World Road Association (PIARC) organises every four years (World Road Congress and International Winter Road Congress), which constitute major international platforms for the dissemination of its productions and the sharing of knowledge, PIARC organises international seminars and workshops. These are organised with the assistance of the Association’s Technical Committees and Task Forces, which include more than 1,200 experts. During the 2016-2019 cycle, more than 20 seminars have already been organised and many more are planned.

Introduction to the ATPIOThe ATPIO was established in 2004 to serve as a forum where an international community of transportation professionals that share a common heritage could come together to address relevant and emerging issues and challenges in transportation, exchange information and ideas, engage in technology transfer activities, and mentor young professionals eager to join the field. As an association that brings together transportation professionals of Indian origin, we strive to serve as an umbrella organization to facilitate enhancing of transportation systems and services in India. Our vision involves assisting and promoting transfer of transportation related knowledge and technology between professionals in India and rest of the world.The ATPIO organizes and supports workshops, seminars, meetings, and conferences where transportation professionals can share information and identify transport solutions that work in a variety of geographical, cultural, and societal contexts. The ATPIO is committed to facilitate professional networking and capacity-building and undertakes a range of mentorship activities to help junior and senior professionals alike further develop the skills and knowledge to be successful. PIARC gathers international experts on Disaster Management in Japan
The World Road Association (PIARC)’s Technical Committee E.3 “Disaster Management” with PIARC’s National Committee of Japan, in cooperation with the Japan Road Association and other partner organizations such as the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA), organize an International Workshop on “Disaster Management for Roads” in Tokyo (Japan), next 31st May 2017.
The main objective of the workshop is to provide a common platform for experts to share experiences and discuss issues and challenges related to disaster management for roads.
It will gather national and international representatives of public and private organizations and will foster dialog and exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences related to disaster management for roads. It will feature disaster management experts as keynote presenters.
In conjunction with this workshop, PIARC’s Technical Committee E.3 will hold its third meeting in Tokyo on May 29-31, 2017.
These events should prove insightful and they confirm the standing of Japan as a very active member of the World Road Association.
ATPIO and TRG Webinar on March 31st – “Current Trends and Future Prospects for Transportation Systems”
ATPIO and TRG are jointly hosting a webinar on “Current Trends and Future Prospects for Transportation Systems” on March 31st at 11:00 am CDT (9:30 pm IST).
The webinar will present an overview of the current trends facing the transportation sector in both the developing and the developed countries, how the rapid changes in technology are going to transform the ways we transport people and goods and what needs to be done to meet these challenges. The focus of the discussion will be on surface transportation.
D-STOP symposium at North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG)
Dr. Bhat, who directs the “Data-Supported Transportation Operations and Planning” (D-STOP) Tier 1 USDOT Center at the University of Texas at Austin, will be providing, with his colleagues, a symposium on connected and automated vehicles on February 13th. The Symposium will be held in coordination with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Dr. Bhat and colleagues have been studying many facets on the future connected and automated transportation world, including communications considerations, data architecture, processing, and fusion, cybersecurity issues, and how these future paradigms of transportation will transform our society.
